Press Releases/News for Family-Run Landscaping Business- Ayegardening
Our new advert in Time and Leisure magazine.
As seen in Time and Leisure magazine.
Local business Ayegardening has been awarded accreditation from Safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety.
Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.
Ayegardening Ltd provides top quality landscape gardening services that meet with complete customer satisfaction across parts of Surrey and Sussex.
Aye Naing the founder of Ayegardening Ltd, said: "We applied for SAFEcontractor accreditation, which has incredibly stringent requirements, for two reasons – to implement a uniform standard across our business and also as a way of recognising the hard work our staff have put into our health and safety systems."
Safecontractor accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.
John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor said, "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place."
"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Ayegardening has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. Safecontractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website.
Client-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, enabling them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These clients agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those who have received accreditation.
Over 210 major, nation-wide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work.

Award Winning Family Business Owners Join Elite Club of Theo Paphitis #SBS WinnersLondon, UK, 16th June – Aye and Susan Naing, Founders and owners of Ayegardening receive a coveted retweet from Dragon’s Den entrepreneur, Theo Paphitis. Ayegardening is a family run company who provide garden and landscaping services in Surrey and West Sussex. Aye and Susan now join the ranks of the exclusive club of Small Business Sunday (#SBS) winners.
Small Business Sunday, shortened to the hashtag #SBS on Twitter, was created by Theo Paphitis in 2010. A passionate supporter of UK small businesses, Theo chose the social media platform to offer support and publicity to determined business owners. Each Sunday between 5-7:30pm, businesses can tweet Theo, explaining in no more than 140 characters why they would make worthy winners. Theo then chooses just 6 from over 700 to retweet and join the growing #SBS family. “We started entering the #SBS competition back in 2011.” Explains Susan. “We think Theo is an inspirational business owner and love the advice and tips that he gives out to small business owners.” …and their winning tweet - ‘#SBS - For 5 years we have helped fathers relax in the garden with their family.’ Featured alongside an idyllic image of a stunningly beautiful garden – a fabulous example of their work. Receiving the accolade on Father’s Day seems particularly apt for Aye and his wife Susan who run Ayegardening alongside raising their three young children.
Founded by Aye in 2009, the company was built on a passion for working outside, a deep knowledge of farming and planting in Asia and an incredibly hard-working ethic. Susan quickly joined the team, and now this family run business prides itself on providing first-class, professional gardening and landscaping services.
Initially just serving Dorking, the business has expanded rapidly and now serves a wide area across West Sussex and parts of Surrey. As the business grows so do the accolades. Last year and again this year Ayegardening was named as a finalist in the Best Small Business Category at the Red Ribbon Awards, which recognise Britain’s thriving family business sector. Whilst in January this year Ayegardening was awarded the coveted Buy with Confidence accreditation from the West Sussex Trading Standards Department – an award not given out lightly as a number of rigorous tests must be passed. For these hard working entrepreneurs the icing on the cake is joining the prestigious #SBS club; “We wanted to raise our profile further as we look to expand,” says Susan, “we are so pleased to be part of the #SBS family as there is such a wealth of knowledge and support amongst the members. We plan to make some valued contacts which will enable us to grow our business even further!”

Press ReleaseFor immediate release – June 2012 Shoots of success for Sussex business!
In this current economic climate stories of business success are few and far between, however Ayegardening a Sussex based Gardening Services business is beating all the odds and are enjoying their third year of growth!
Ayegardening was started in 2009 by husband and wife team Aye and Susan Naing. Aye initially started on his own doing general gardening maintenance in the Dorking, Surrey area and Susan did the back office work around her full time role as teacher. At the end of 2009 they moved to Crawley, West Sussex and whilst keeping their original Dorking customers they started growing a base of new customers in Crawley. At this time Aye also started doing City & Guild courses along with his own self-study to develop his knowledge to enable Ayegardening to offer the most professional service possible.
2010 was a big year for the company, Susan gave up teaching to work for the business and start their family. They continued to invest in top professional gardening equipment and by now had a solid base of regular commercial and domestic clients across West Sussex and Surrey.
2011 was then the year of hard work! The business really started to get established and they continued to invest in the company by getting a new logo designed along with a new van to grow the Ayegardening brand. Their new website was designed by both Susan and Aye, and even today they still do all the maintenance and development of the site whilst continuing to grow their social media presence.
2012 has so far been amazing for Aye and Susan and been a real turning point for the business. In the last six months they have become a Limited Company with four employees; Aye as Director, Susan as Company Secretary and two trainees to help with their ever increasing work load. They now do regular commercial grounds maintenance for offices, residential buildings, events fields and much more and they still have domestic customers from three years ago, along with many new ones! New services like decking, patios and sleeper beds are now also offered in order to continue to develop and grow the business.
Aye originally comes from Burma, where he was a rice farmer and also did rubber harvesting. He always worked from a young age and the Burmese culture of you need to work to survive is still very much with him. His enthusiasm for his work is contagious and with the support of wife Susan who works tirelessly on developing the business, they really are the ‘Aye’ team, and those shoots of success are developing into strong roots for their continued growth!
Ayegardening are fully insured, with comprehensive health and safety policies in place, a code of conduct, and relevant City & Guilds training qualifications.
